Wines of Laurel Lake Vineyards
Winemaking Philosophy At Laurel Lake Vineyards, our winemaking emphasizes a respect for tradition and for hand-crafted techniques, including the use of indigenous yeast and bacteria, minimal intervention and no filtration of the wines. Our labor-intensive, artisanal approach to winemaking produces wines which are true to their varietal character and evoke an honest sense of place. For our white wines, we pick and press the grapes, use indigenous yeast fermentation and extended aging on the lees in both neutral oak barrels and small stainless steel barrels. Both the cooperage and lees contact help to express the minerality and nuance of the white grapes and lend a complexity and depth to the mouth-feel. For our red wines, we use a moderately cool soak pre-fermentation, followed by an indigenous yeast fermentation with aerative pump overs, and finish with an extended maceration with heat. Malolactic fermentation takes place in French oak barrels, one third of which are new. The blends are assembled in the summer after the prior year's harvest and bottled the following winter without filtration. These techniques help to produce stylistically unique wines with lush fruit and silky, soft tannins. Laurel Lake Vineyards aspires to make wines that reflect a sense of place. Making fresh crisp and delicious North Fork of Long Island Wines that exhibits both perfume and power.
2010 Pinot Noir
This wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks, which were carefully temperature-controlled, and then aged for 12 months in used French oak barrels (100%).This Pinot Noir is smooth, rich and fleshy with a complex array of cherry, plum and blackberry.
Intense flavors and full bodied. It was aged in French oak barrel for 12 months. It is lightly smoky, and you will find flavors of dry plums and vanilla. It pairs well with chicken, turkey and pasta.
2010 Cabernet Franc
This opaque substantial wine bursts on the palate with peppery spicy flavors and hints of toasty cedar. This is a well-balanced wine with an intense aroma and powerful velvet finish. Note the deep ruby red color and smooth rich tannins. This wine was rated 92 points "Exceptional" in the Beverage Testing Inst. 2011 World Wine Championships.
This full bodied wine is a fine example of intensity of flavor for which the North Fork is well known. This wine was barrel aged in French oak for 18 months. A soft and silky wine with hints of pepper, the palate gives generous berry flavors with a fine toasty oak and vanilla with generous flavors of berry. It pairs very well with smoke ham and pasta.

2012 Sauvignon Blanc
The 2012 Sauvignon Blanc is a remarkable wine. Made in an opulent, soft-textured style, it reveals an array of grapefruit, and lime peel, all beautifully framed by a persistent underlying note of grass. On the palate it displays tangy grapefruit and sweet flavors, with good mid-palate richness and vibrant acidity with a finish that goes on forever.
Unwooded chardonnay. It’s a light, crisp and generous fruit-driven wine; abounding in ripe pineapple, fresh lemon and mineral flavors. The palate displays pineapple and mineral characters with soft creamy finish. This chardonnay is ideal for salads and appetizers.
2012 Chardonnay Estate Bottled Reserve
This wine was fermented in French oak barrels and then aged for ten months, thereby enhancing its drinking pleasure. This wine has a light creamy taste, with nuances of toasty oak and vanilla. It has a long finish with a hint of ripe fruit and spice. Pairs well with seafood and most light fare. This wine was rated 90 points "Exceptional" in the Beverage Testing Inst. 2011 World Wine Championships.
